Degree Show 2014

After three years at university it all came to an end in June 2014. Here is a sneak peak of my screen printed samples, textured made glass panels and a 5m hand printed fabric on display.

Thankyou to artist Stephen Beardsell spending weeks teaching and showing me how to work with glass.

I have moved to Weybridge, Surrey to Pursue my design job dream.

Textured Samples

Good Morning world !

Here are just a few of my screen printed designs i have produced. I have produced 12 A2 samples alongside a 3 metre sandspun sand washed silk and textured glass panels of art.

From the three prints you can see above, i they have been designed and made in Britain. They focus on markings from various places to create abstract textured fabrics. My fabrics range from linen, silk, velvet and cotton with various print techniques being used.

Busy Bee

Hi Everybody!

Sorry i haven't posted anything for a while. Between my fashion part time job and my degree show planning i've been crazy busy. But i do have lots and lots of photographs and recent work to update you on!

I have been working with Artist Stephen Beardsell who has shown me how to make my designs possible. I have been working in the screen printing rooms at university and also with ceramic and glass at The National Glass Centre in Sunderland.  For my degree show i wanted to produce interior prints in both placement and repeat formats which are suitable for both fashion and interior.

My latest creation was to experiment with new materials for a feature wall within an exhibition space or within a home.

I've taken a few snaps while i was in the Dye Lab.
Here are two of my fabrics i have hand dyed with acid and procion dyes.

Peachstock plan

This week I have been looking at my self promotion for when I graduate. I will produce various different business cards showing my textile practice.
I want to take my basic cards and add something textured such as fabric swatches or screen printed designs onto the cards.

My final major project is base upon the texture or urbex locations. For this reason I have experimented with layering with different screens.

Above is just one of my layered samples... What do you think?

Procion & Acid Dye Experimentation

Colour swatching with various shades of blue and different fabrics.

My final major project is all about texture, because of this I created large sheets of textures on top of each other.
By doing this it helps to show how I will create the texture and layering effect from paper to fabric.

Fruit & Veg Experimenting

As part of my experimentation i wanted to look at traditional old fashioned dyes. Below i have produced various different dye bath.

Blueberry boiled and simmered

Spinach,Basil,Beans & Kiwi

Use a fixative to hold the dye to the fabric

Left to absorb and soak in the colour before rinsing the fabric out.

Exhibition Visit to Stratford Upon Avon

Hope you all had a lovely valentines day! Speaking of love.... I visited Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford Upon Avon to look at the treasures kept at the museum.

I found the objects very inspiring for my drawings. Looking at objects that have been kept in such great condition brings history into my drawings.

The Exhibition changes every 3 months to reveal new treasures.
It is well worth a visit as there is plenty to do and see for the day.
Stop off for a high stacked cream scone at Hobson's Patisserie around the corner.
